A Day of Glacier Exploration
A Day of Glacier Exploration
Full Day Glacier Exploration An experience you will never forget!
Service Description
Experience the jaw-dropping beauty of an outlet glacier flowing from Europe's largest ice cap, Vatnajökull. Get face to face with otherworldly ice features that have intrigued scientists, mountaineers and polar explorers for centuries. Learn about how glaciers form, move and have impacted everyday lives locally for millennia. You will hear and see the role glaciers play in climate change, and what the human race can expect in the next centuries as they sadly retreat. During this adventure, you will not only learn how to use essential equipment for glacier travel, but actually put it to use as we move as part of a team on the hard ice. Once you've mastered the basics we will have the opportunity to push into more difficult terrain such as crevasse fields and whatever the glacier throws at us. This trip is built for all who can move with ease for a full day, and maybe even want to try exploring a feature selected by the guide.
